Hi Lucy - Can I just say its been a privilege to have been your mentor for the last 4 month, there has been highs & lows, but I always new deep down you would finish come hell or high water, and that medal is what its all about at the end of the day! I hope you have enjoy being one of the SSX as much as I have enjoyed being your mentor
I like to thank everyone how contributed in making this thread so enjoyable !
I hope you are all enjoying your well earn't rests
Hi Christina - good effort, you gave it a good go, going though halfway on target, and then having problems with your quads cramping up, it was very humid out there this might of played a part, I saw you at 22 and then got your finishing time, obviously you are disapointed but you will be back and I am sure you will crack 3 hrs next time, my advise is to take a couple of weeks off running and reflect on the last 4 month, and decide what you want from the sport? it would be good to see you doing some shorter distances, 5k's & 10k's and then having another go at sub 3
You have been a star from day one, the way you dealt with everything, injury included
My first 2 marathons I DNF, and knowing you " all be it on a forum" you will be back!
Hi Christina - well nearly there now, I went to the expo yesterday, it was very good, glad to hear you are picking up your number today, they are forcasting showers on Sunday, but like you say what we be will be, can not control it so no point worrying about it !
I will be in London on Sunday at halfway and at the Raddison afterwards, what colour vest are you wearing and what is your number ?
Hi Christina - I hope you are not climbing the walls yet ! good call getting a massage this week and not to close to race day !
I think this applies to everyone ,in the first half of the marathon just keep saying one word to yourself, "RELAX"Don't get caught up in anybody Else's pace early on, Remember its you again 26.2 mile, have your plan and stick to it, someone once said to me, The marathon is like an emotional roller coaster, you will go thought bad patches, and they might be early on, but you have to just work thought them, and you will!
Enjoy the Expo, after all its part of the marathon experience, but if you are picking up your number on Saturday, try not to spend to much time on your feet
