Hi Runners. Been wearing Asiscs 2140 trainers for nearly 3 years and suffer terribly from blisters on side of big toes.Ran London Marathon in them and lost both big toe nails and feet not very pretty now. They are so comfortable and have 3 pairs to change around but cannot continue losing nails and painful blisters. I have a wide ladies size 8 foot. My trainers were fitted for me in a specialist shop. PLEASE can anyone recommend a different brand.Thankyou Debbie.
Welcome Jinky. Once again upping mileage does seem to affect different runners, be careful as my pain in the first instance went away but after a 20 mile road race it has put me out of action for nearly 4 weeks so far and still having pain.Get your trainers sorted asap as you dont want to run in a newish pair and get to see a sports physio it really does help. Take it easy and dont push it as there will always be races , runs, marathons etc, to aim for and to run injury free is a far better option, keep in touch and let us all know how you get on, take care Debz.
Hi Nicola. I am able to walk straight now but still have intense pain in upper thigh and after two or three hours gentle walking am really tired. I know i made the right decision to pull out of london marathon as would done severe damage to my leg and do not want to ruin my running as a hobby. Its when you up the milage it seems to kick in but all my other friends are fine and i am the youngest !! It has been a nightmare not being able to go to club and join in and the mickey taking at work, due to a rather impressive limp has been tedious at times.Still i listened to my body and not my head and will give it another 4 weeks and then start off gently running and losing the extra pounds i have put on over Easter. Please do not push it as you wiil only do more injury to your leg and hip.I have deferred my marathon and have learnt lessons along the way as only been running a year and will train not as hard this year but pace myself. PLEASE read article on page of this months runners world and the injury he describes, that exactly what happened to me at same mileage and same injuries apart from ham string. He is a great inspiration as he took off two months but got straight back to running again which gave me hope. Take care and time is a great healer, Debz.
