i did manchester as my first marathon a couple of years ago and thought it was brilliant! well organised, lots of water and toilet stops, nice route and plenty of support even though it was peeing it down with rain!
I was thinking about doing Edinburgh in 2015 too - not so sure now so looking at Geneva instead perhaps!
I am just after a bit of advice really from you knowledgeable bunch!
I am currently training for the Jersey marathon on 5th October. I have run a few marathons before but have always kind of 'winged it' in training and just done the odd long run and a few other runs. My pb so far is 4.23. I am trying to be as consistent with my training for this marathon as I can be as its home turf and I basically want to kick its butt but could do with some more ideas of what i can do in the next few weeks to really up my marathon-readyness!
My current schedule at the mo is long run on a Sunday (currently up to 18 miles no problem), 2 shorter runs in the week (I run to work - 5ish miles), one longer run mid-week (currently around 8 miles) up a nice hill or two of some sort (the marathon has 3/4 miles of hills in it at the beginning) and sometimes I run with a club on a tuesday night to do intervals. I am really aware that i am lacking another consistent 'quality' session but am just not sure what to do and even whether the intervals would be enough! I know i should just print out a plan and follow that but with a busy work life, I need to just fit something in when i can.
