Well, I finished, which was the main objective and I even managed to set a new PB so that was a bonus! This was my last Marathon and I have to admit I really enjoyed it, despite the pain I'm in now! What a brilliant day and great reception from the Alzheimer's Society!
I couldn't believe the water stations were empty by 3 miles in! They were picking up discarded bottles and pouring dregs together, so let's hope we haven't picked up too many germs but those of us at the back didn't have much choice!
Somehow managed to have a great day anyway, despite getting some kind of knee injury at 18 miles and limping the rest of the way! Second (and definitely last) FLM and went from 7:05:05 and total misery in 2004 to 6:18:36 and laughing al the way round this time!
Don't forget other ways of getting money that don't feel like 'sponsorship' to your donors - I'm doing a sweepstake at work on my finishing time and a cake sale (can you tell I'm a primary teacher?). Last time I also did a number of boot sales too.
VERY late reply from another Stampeder! Hoping just to finish on the same day as everyone else, rather than going for a particular time. Fundraising not going too badly but training really hurts!
