Hi,
I now have shoes that have a slightly raised heel. They are also giving my ankles more support and my knees are more comfortable. Maybe this will help you too?

Hi,
I thought that I was just an odd ball stepping onto the ball of my foot. Glad I'm not alone!
I am going to a specialist running shop tonight, so I will let you know how it goes.
Happy running

Hi,
This is great!!! A friend gave me this website as I told him I wanted to start running. I agreed with him that I would go from being a professional couch potatoe to running the Bath half marathon in February/March. Having got lots of feedback on this from this website I have decided to aim for a 5k first, then a 10k and moving on from there.
I, like others, used to be the last one in from school runs. It's great to hear that others similar to me are now dedicated enjoyment runners.
Usually I say that I want to do something, think about it for a while and then loose interest. Reading people's threads I'm really looking forward to starting. I have (old habits die hard) waited until I got some decent running shoes, but I've found a running shop and am going straight there after work today! WOHOO!!
It's really nice reading your messages.
THANKS for the motivation you have unknowingly given me!
Sabine ps, I'm a 32club wanna-be. I'm 21.

Hi
I keep reading about how important it is to get good running shoes.
As a new-comer to the sport I don't have a clue where I would find a shop that would be able to give me good advice: does anoyone know of a good shop in the Bristol or Bath area?
Much appreciated!

Hi
I recently had a 'I'm not good at anything period', during which my sister suggested running the Bristol half marathon. For some reason the idea appealed to me and I decided I would: whether I passed through the finishing lines on my feet or a stretcher.
The only problem, small however it is, is that I hate running. I love sports such as tennis and badminton and get a great workout doing them. Needless to say, the years of studenthood are still upon me and I have excess alcohol and junk food reserves that I would very much like to shift without starving myself.
Having been reading this website I have leant all about correct running shoes and the run/walk routine and am keen to get started. However, I used to jog with my father (many years ago) and never dared stop - he scared me too much. The point being, I hated it. I felt great at the end of it, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without him. He enjoyed it: I hated it. He found a stress relief in it: it stressed me out.
So, what I really want is some advice. I want to get fit and I would love to like running. Aiming to complete the Bath (goal's shifted to more realistic date) half marathon would give me great pleasure.
So, I would be really grateful is someone could please help me and give me some of that motivation and good advice you all seem to have?
Sabine
