Hello, I seem to suffer from calf cramps towards the end of any half marathon I do. I never suffer from them in training and it is so frustrating. I tend to take isotonic drinks all the way round but still get them, especially when I try to step up my pace. I understand that Suceed Salt tablets are very good at combating cramp but I am a little hesitant to take them incase I cause some sort of electrolyte imbalance etc and cause my body/heart trouble! Just wondered if anyone had any advice please if possible? Thanks very much, KR Amanda
Thanks guys for all that very useful advice and for taking the time to get back to me. Thanks for the name of the tablets B_Kins and for advice on how to use them. Very useful and much appreciated. Not feeling so dejected now!
Just wanted to ask some advice re; leg cramping. I ran a half marathon on Sunday and about mile 9 I started to get cramp in my right leg every time I tried to up my pace. The rest of me felt fine but I just don't understand - maybe naively - why it happened? I approached the race in the same way I have my other halves- where I've never had this problem. It was hot that day but I always make sure I'm well hydrated pre race and never miss a water staion and take a couple of gels to use with me and yet this crippling pain wouldn't leave. Funnily enough this happened in the same race last year - although i was doing the full marathon that time - at about mile 13 the cramp kicked in. Sorry to warble on but i ended up feeling quite dejected - determined to try and find out why, so I can learn from it but dejected nevertheless and would really appreciate any advice anyone has. Thank you
