Hey Shedboy - my hip problem is an ache that kind of begins at the back and extends around to the front.. if that makes sense. Massage has sorted it out every time, usually involving a couple of well placed shoves and twists of my leg. I've been told to use my roller for 20mins a day to keep the muscles happy. I am not very good at doing this.. but getting better. Keep up the rest - it's just as important as training, if not more.
I had a good day out with a new PB of 1:51, hooray. I started in front of the 1:50 pacer and just ran from them (my new favourite pace tactic). I would have liked 1:50 or below but still very happy. No issues from the hip - I had a massage before the race from a man with magic fingers. Not a hint of soreness during, after or since the race. Back on track for Stroud
Hi Andrea - I spent the race running away from you! I was aiming for 1.50 so placed myself about 100m in front and made sure I kept it that way. I came in at 1:51:28 which probably would put you on about 1:50? My garmin had me at 1:51:29 so my official time was spot on. I was just short of 1:50, but it's still a pb so I'm happy!
'Clif bloks' are jellies packed full of energy (FRC will know the technical details). They're basically fuel to keep your body going. A roller is a cylindrical shaped piece of hard foam or similar - you roll yourself over it to loosen tight muscles.
Well done sticking to the training schedule, getting all excited and going too far and fast is where a lot of people go wrong in training.
