Still out doing the regular runs, still not got stuck into the speedwork yet........although I have been doing interval work in the gym on the bike and rower.

A bit manic at home as we're in the middle of decorating the whole ground floor - quite a big job with a wall down and all the flooring to be replaced. That alone has kept me fit!

My wife is on her last run of 2 x 15mins, Wed will be the first day of running 30 mins continuous. I'm sure she could do it now ut sticking to the programme to try to fend of injury. She can't beleive how much easier it has become compared to the first couple of times. Not sure if we will enter the Glasgow 10k on Sept 3rd, think it's a little too early but we'll see in the next week how she feels about it.

Really need the draw of a race myself, been missing it, not got one planned (Glasgow maybe) until Kilmalcom on 19th Sept.

Good to see a few new faces in the thread, not had chance to get on much being a bit Handy Manny at the mo.

If it works for you and makes you happy and feel good then keep doing it, you don't need approval from others to back it up.

Since Feb I have lost 12kg by just not eating stuff I shouldn't eat too much of - you only have to look at your plate to know whether it's good/bad, only drinking on a Fri or Sat and getting stuck into excercise at least 5 days a week. I will be honest and say it's been easy, you just have to realise you can't have your cake and eat it!

Good luck and keep us up to date with your progress with your running and your long term weightloss!

Not been on for a week or so but still putting the runs in. Keeping to a steady 3 runs on my own and 3 with my wife, try not to do them on the same day!

My usual route is coming down in time without even trying(I deliberately don't try to run it fast, just run under my recovery heart rate).

My wife is doing well, notching up on the run/walk programme. She's now at the stage where she can keep running but her head is telling her she needs to walk. We'll work through that over the next few weeks.

Well done all, some good progress from the look of it.

vcd, congrats on the baby and an admirable 8k! Well done.

Gutted for you Tilly that you didn't enjoy your race. I know what you mean about the hanging about and the crush at the start. I wouldn't write of races just yet though, great time too just short of the magic 60mins. Makes a huge difference when it's hot, my potentially most difficult race ended up being a PB - no doubt the rain on the day helped me through that as the other races were pretty warm.

Still knocking out the k's but not any significant speedwork - I must get myself into that as Sept will come round all too soon. My OH is doing well, now up to running 5 mins/walk 2 * 4, no injuries so far and she's still got a smile on her face and still speaking to me. We'll see how this changes when we get to 8mins/12mins/15mins over the next 3 weeks!
