Hello,

I am in a similar situation. I have done three marathons (last one was New York in Nov 2009), and several halfs (usually the Coniston 14 - I live near).

I have entered the Coniston 14 and the Berlin marathon in Sept this year, and am looking for other events to do, marathons or otherwise.

This led me to think about a Triathlon, which eventually led me to this thread!

I have a good road bike and a cheap MTB. I enjoy cycling and wanted to do some long rides this year anyway for pleasure. Maybe coast to coast?

Anyway I was also wondering about essential gear if I was to do a triathlon.

The bike is ok, and I have helmet and clipless shoes etc

My fitness is good though I have been lazy since New York. I am starting running again this week in preparation for the C14 in March.

I have one of those cheap wetsuits I bought for bodyboarding in Newquay, is this any good for Triathlons?

Do I need one of those Tri suits, or would my wicking running gear be ok?

Thats enough Qs for now I think...except maybe some events to consider?

Oh and whats this talk about Germany next year all about?

cheers all

Mike

That is one tough run!!

Finished in 1.37

Have done a few marathons and lots of half marathons.

Hawkshead was MUCH harder than any of them.....but now I know what to expect I will adjust my training to include a lot more hills

I am staying in Hawkshead Sat and Sun. Anyone else there Sunday night after the race?

I plan to park myself in one of the local pubs and get stuck into the Brown stuff till I fall over!

Hoping to do the race in sub 4 hours but we will see cos I dont really know how bad and numerous the hills are.

Also just found out that I got in the New York Marathon this November so it has given me a boost!!

See you all Sunday and good luck to all.

THE CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRY FOR THIS RACE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO THE 10TH OF MAY.

For information if anyone thinks they have missed this race  - the closing date for entry for this race has been extended to the 10th of May. I sent an email to the organiser yesterday and just had a reply. I thought I had missed it because the event details says closing date was 25th April.

Hope this helps someone - see you all there!!
