Great reports and fair efforts all round I think they all capture the essence of that event/race really well. We were out at Lanza supporting my BIL, Crab and TC. Well when I say supporting I mean recieving lots (and lots) of abuse for not racing and having to fend off all the comments along the lines of "well obviouslty the swim is much hillier than 3 years ago" ;o) Personally I found supporting the run leg much more taxing than when I actually did it as it was very arduous and mentally draining trying to work out when people would arrive while simultaenously chasing a now upwardly mobile Jarlath around while supping coffee and eating ice cream ;o) Min and G-Sport we shouted support at your a few times and even though you didn't know who were were you were more gracious about it than that TC chap, who just kept whinging about his guts (and compared to Crabs similar that verse that is saying something !) and how much he hated the race.. I did manage to take some video footage and some picces, but there are all rubbish unless you were in the top 10 on the bike ! Crab, just to add the motivation, BIL reckongs he can go sub 11 next year ;0) |

congrats IR, bloody fantastic news... one less person to whoop my sorry backside at lanza.. don't worry about IM training, by 6 months you should be at least up to 15 hours a week.... sleep that is I echo said comments about baby jogger (not that I've used ours that much).. |

I just bought a planet-x uncle john cyclo cross frame and (carbon) fork for commuting/winter training and maybe doing a bit of off road on.. The frame and forks where 250 quid, canti brakes ~40, and I put 10 speed shifters on it and transfered the rest over from my old bike (e.g. carbon seat post, crank, BB, wheels, thin tyres, cassette).. It's certainly a good "all rounder" as it has 1. Bike rack mount points 2. can take fat and thin tyres (can go off road) 3. has mud guard mount points 4. 2 bottle holder mounts (your be surprised how many commute and off road bikes have only 1 or none !) 5. good geometry... 6. it was cheap I've not finished building it up yet but it'll look something like this with a rack on the back
