Hello All How's everyone doing? I've been really bad with getting on here and catching up haven't I!! Nice to see you're back WV!! I'm with you on the whole running better in cold weather thing, suits me SO much better than running in the heat! I can run faster (for me, that is!) and it feels like it takes half the effort too. Love it! Still only doing baby mileage 3 to 5 miles a time and only a couple of times a week......seem to have lost some of my mojo during the 8 weeks it took for my foot to heal. I need to stock up on some winter gear this year I think. It was 10 degrees out when I ran today (only 3.5 miles) in just a t-shirt and 3/4 tights and my arms and legs felt the cold! Last winter I overheated even when it was minus degrees out, and never needed a jacket or anything so I am surprised that I felt so chilly the whole way around today. I must be fitter than last year then! Well, I hope everyone is doing well |

Oh James I feel for you! Best you go and see your GP at the very least, or a physio if you can and don't try and run through the pain! A similar thing happened to me in June,10 days before the Torbay half that I'd trained 6 months for! 2 miles into a 5 mile taper run I felt a searing pain in my foot, limped home and could barely walk by that evening. Saw the GP who suspected a stress fracture, but the xrays were clear so I saw a private physio who diagnosed a peroneal tendon injury. I ended up having my foot taped for ages and loads of ultrasound etc and it still took almost 2 months before I could run on it again. I'm only just now getting back to doing decent-ish mileage, but nowhere close to where I was before. It is gutting having all your hard work go to waste, but rather miss one race and heal properly than try to keep going and set yourself back for months and months. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious. Good luck! |

Hello Cinders, Loula and JB How are you guys doing? I've been slacking a bit lately.......ran for the first time in 2 weeks yesterday. I've been taking it easy as my hamstring was niggling again so I expected a bad run as was really not in the mood and had to force myself out the door, but ended up having one of those amazing runs where everything just goes perfectly and you feel like you can go on forever, how funny is that!! Looking forward to your race soon LLB? How's France Cinders? Sorry you never got to run the marathon |
