Hi Vincent, I have a place in Berlin marathon however I have decided not to run it this year. I am not sure on details for transferring though and whether you can or not. Does anyone know whether places can be transferred?
I was so disappointed to see on the NPS Lions website this morning that they are full and are not accepting on the day entries. I did the Seaford Half last june and paid in advance but on race day I saw there were so many people paying on the day that I thought I could do that this year.
If anyone has a place that they cannot use anymore I will buy it off you!
Wow it was hot yesterday! Managed to finish my first marathon in 3:59:24, I got to the 800 metres to go sign and the guy on the microphone announced that the clock had hit the 4hour mark and I felt like giving up! My legs were in so much pain and I really really wanted to get just under 4 hours! but then, I looked down at my watch and realised my stopwatch said I still had a few minutes (according to my chip time) so I thought I might be able to make it and just kept going and going and going (felt like it took an hour!) but managed 3:59, so pleased as it was my first, but did hurt from mile 16 onwards and had a stitch from mile 12 to 20 then a lovely personal trainer gave me advice to get rid of my stitch and it worked straight away! (thank you nice man!)
the cheering was amazing and anytime I felt like walking people would say 'come on you can do it' and somehow it made me keep going.
Had the best day yesterday and a well deserved cider (or three) on the beach afterwards and a nice greasy dinner!
I've written out a little timetable for sunday morning (to keep me sane and to try and stop these marathon nightmares of not being organised on the day) and one of the 'things to do' is 'valseline up' my partner pointed it out last night and said "I don't want to know what that means" haha. he's not into sport or exercise at all but is my number 1 supporter for Sunday
When I have been running 15 miles or more in training, I get badly bruised toenails and someone told me to rub vaseline around my toes and it worked a treat!
