I really enjoyed your race report! I have just two weeks to go now and I am sensing the onset of taper madness. I still haven't decided what time to shoot for - between 3.39 and 3.45 somewhere. I have completed my training runs of 20 and over on 1-2 gels but would expect to use about 5 on marathon day. I couldn't imagine taking one every 3 miles, but I might experiment tomorrow on my 15 miler with taking a couple closer than 5 miles apart - it might make a difference- or it might make me feel sick (I think the latter).
I wonder how your recovery is going? It normally takes me a few weeks to return to normal. Have fun on your comeback run - hope you don't ache too much.
Glad to hear you are well again. It has been really bad luck for you to come down with two horrid lurgies during training. I have been ill in both of my tapers for my last two marathons, and last year I wasn't sure I'd make it to the start. I think I'm just going to go to bed at 9pm every eveing and wear a surgical mask when out of doors this time...
The intervals sounded fun (I think) - I've never done 200m before! Did you pelt them flat out?
