Dont know if I chatted to you at the number collection desk. I talked about great south run.
Im glad it wasn't just me.
Anyway I was amazed by the lack of organisation here. I got to the gates at 9:00 am an hour before the start and was told by somebodyt that the gates wouldn't open till 9:20. So 40 minutes to get hundreds of people through 1 door, spectators to pay, runners to pick up number. No chance. As it was I got through with 10 minutes to go and lots of people behind me. 1 person from the RNLI was available for a million questions.
The race was run on a ploughed field. Single track, had to stop 3 times on first 2k for getting over obsticles. NO water available, no markers for distance, The ploughed field was actually dangerous I slipped pretty badly about 3 times.
Back in the zoo directions were terrible, hill was ridiculous. Stopped after 5k as didn't want to give the field a try again.
Don't be discouraged fromn other runs as the was by far the most poorly organised event I have ever taken part in. They showed a massive lack of common sense and should have talked to a runner about the event.
Would definitely not do an event here again or anything organised by this charity which is a shame.
Have booked for another next week in lIchfield to get me back on track.
