The lowest temperature I've run in was about -22C - brrrr. Just remember it's slow going as breathing is much harder and if you take a drink, make sure you fill bottle/bladder with warm water and you'll also need some kind of neoprene sleeve as it'll freeze really quickly otherwise - something that has slipped my mind before and I ended up chewing snow ... whoops
Hi there! The thing is, hydration systems are such a personal thing, so it's difficult to recommend a specific product to you. Some prefer bottle belts, others swear by backpacks, some prefer bladders, others insist on bottles either on the back or on the front straps. Some have one bottle at the back, some have two - same goes for the front. I think you ought to go to a shop and just try a few things out first, see what feels right and onc eyou've decided which type is for you, then maybe we can suggest some favourites? I know it's not the response you were hoping for but it really is such an individual thing. Either way, exciting stuff about your approaching marathong! Good luck
Very sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience but thanks very much for reporting back. From the race description, it sounded like they were putting a great deal of thought, effort and organisation into making sure runners are safe but then to read they didn't even make notes / dib runners as they were passing CPs & handing out the wrong emergency contact is really quite worrying and has made me pause with regards to signing up for next year. Packing up CPs as runners are still present - shocking!. You either get there within the cut-off or you don't. To try and send runners back out on their way without drink or food is not really good enough - what if you get lost on the next stage - the emergency number is wrong, so you can't get hold of anybody - you've run out of food / drink, nobody misses you.... that's just a recipe for disaster. I'm desperate to do this race next year but realistically, I think I'll need some reassurances from the organizers first that changes will be made for next year. I hope they listen & take note!
