Also in for Larne half -my neck of the woods and know the course well. Martins right one2escape take it easy till you get to the top of Cairncastle hill -its brutal!! - but take that hill out of the equation and its all flat.
Stunning course and big entry -you will enjoy it as long as you pace it right. I remember 2012 race -sunny day, and I went out like Mo Farah and came back like some-one who had gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson -Big lesson learned the hard way!
12.5 hilly miles for me today. Struggled a bit over last 2 miles -wheels came off big style - has knocked my confidence a bit as training had been going ok up till today. But miles in the bank I suppose....................
Planning to try out one of the Belfast Parkruns next week, either waterworks or Victoria -anyone ran them both and can advise on what they reckon is the fastest course of the two? when you have a slow PB like mine every second counts
Just back from Den Haag half marathon. Beautiful city and fantastic course (city to scheveningen beach, a few miles run on sand and back to The Hague again ), full marathon & Ultra also run on the day. Organisation was top notch, feed stations with bananas plus poweraid drinks offered every 5kms .
Cheap flight to Amsterdam and train to The Hague. Highly recommend it if you ever fancy a European outing!! Just took the run nice and easy enjoying the breath-taking scenery, and as it is Holland the course was pancake flat
For those ultra runners out there you have your own personal guide/support (on roller blades or bike) to feed and guide you round the 60 km route.
