Last year the Bank Holiday was moved to June due to the Jubilee....as an outsider I like the fact that the run is on the BH Sunday as I can relax/celebrate/rehydrate on the Sunday knowing that I'm off work on the Monday. Also, despite the fact that I spend most weekends in the Buxton area between April & November, I would have trouble convincing my OH to let me spend a large portion of a 2 day weekend on running a HM...but its easier on a Bank Holiday Sunday. @cake....are you running this again this year? |

I've signed up having ran it last year, and have managed to convince another member of our club to sign up as part of her hill training for Trail Marathon Wales. Just hope the weather is a bit kinder this year. |

Think i'll try this for my first half, victoria i'm not the quickest of runners either It never said anything about being quick on the entry form I filled in (thank goodness)....No matter where we finish, we all get the same medal....so it's good to have another runner on board! |

Entered this a couple of days ago having trained for marathons on the trail for the past two years. No need to worry about trail experience Victoria, the surface is as good as road for most parts. Only issue is if it's wet...I ran a 20mile out and back between Parsley Hey & Tissington and parts of the trail that were fine on the way out had flooded on the way back. I'm sure the organisers will have booked perfect conditions for the day though! |

It was a great race Alan & I'm looking forward to entering the 2014 race (once I've got the money, again, after I get the money to enter the Port Sunlight 10k). I'm glad that the race will keep the limit rather than just increasing entry numbers to swell the coffers....great decision which shows btr is run by runners rather than buisnessmen. My only gripes with the race were the section of cobbles behind the Abert Dock which I found impossible to run on (& ended up tucking in behind a slower runner on the paving slab path). That, and a couple of bottlenecks on the prom were the only hitches, and they probably wouldn't have been as much of an issue if I'd started in the right pen (but that's my fault as I'd messed up training & had no idea what I was capable of, so started near the back (7:30mins after the start). I still managed to get a PB by over 4mins, so it obviously didn't affect me that much. Loved the shiny 'bling' medal & the cadets were fantastic in the funnel (and on the course). I've loved all the RunLiverpool/btr event's I've done so far & look forwward to many more! |
