Im well into a marathon training schedule (week 9 out of 16) and during a speed session i have developed a pain in the sole of my foot!!! in the arch towards the heel but not on the heel (a bit like a strain). I was breaking in a new pair of trainers at the time Mizuno Wave Riders 15's my first run in them but i do have custom made orthotics and was using them. Could this be just a strain? can you run through it?? could it be Plantar Fasciitis??? or is it a case of bad luck rest for a few days and revert back to my old Brooks Ghost 4... its my first marathon and don't want to miss it. im gutted need help....
i've been running in the Brooks since last Aug and everything seems fine regarding the injury and i haven't got a bad word to say for them in fact im thinking of getting the same again. However i do run with the orthotics. I would defo get your gait analysis carried out as you might just be surprised what it throws up. the Ghost 4's get the thumbs up from me and seem to be outlasting the Asics hope this helps.
iv'e just recovered from an ITB injury on my right knee and have suddenly developed a strange feeling in my left (outside), its not painful and i can run with it but i am very aware of it, it feels like my knee is weak any thoughts? I had to get orthotics in treating the ITB and have recently got new training shoes (Brooks Ghost 4) because i was running in Asics 2150's but was getting a bit of discomfort in the inside of both knees and was advised to goto a neutral shoe with the orthotics. any advice on what it could be???
at the end of the day at least your out there pounding the pavement. take comfort from the fact than on race day your pace will be up somewhat and that with every bad day there will be a good, confidence is granted to those people with expectations of greatness contentment is what the rest of us can best obtain. in short don't beat yourself up be positive.
