after taking mr A advice,I will be going for it just going to go slow and get head round just wish I got a couple of twenty mile runs in,started training in march but with illness and holidays I messed it up I manged to run over 15 miles six times but with being 1st one my gut felling say last 8 mile are going to hurt any advise on the last 8 would be great .
have entered the kielder marathon on 6 oct not sure if I will make it round have done a bit of training but not what I had planned ,just ran a half in 1.50 and have done 2 long runs of 19 miles ,been getting tight hamstrings and glutes after 15 miles and I guess the question is do defer or give it a go
i am training to do run the kielder marathon (6 oct)my longest run is at 13 miles and I was going to try and up by 2 miles each week to 21 miles and then do the great north run (15th sep) iam starting to panic if it is possible to up the miles that fast and then taper in time for the maratorn . this is first full one done a few halfs but at 40 year old I am sore for a day or two after the long run
Thanks for the advise ,I do use a garmin and I sure it has pace alerts will have ditch the headphones and try and run slower I keep trying to hit the 10 .00 min per mile target but the speed creeps up might try a bit of off road as well
