Hi Guys, glad to see everyone is able to get out and about running. So i went swimming on Sunday insted of my lsr due to a sore knee, I am such a rubbish swimmer but was good to be able to do some sort of excercise. Had a rest yesterday and I am heading out for a 5 mile jog tonight, my Garmin watch arrived today so I have to use it and I will run on grass so ifs softer on me knees.
Does anyone have any tips on what is good to eat before a run to give energy? I have tried sports drinks but they make me more thirsty and dont want to spend loads of money on gels etc. I do my runs straight after work and then eat dinner afterwards. Anyone else do that?
Hi Smeags, had a quiet night in last night no drink and had a heavy carbohydrate dinner, i suppose it was just one of those rubbish runs that everyone gets, i couldnt get into a rhythm was very frustrating and disheartening plus i knew my knee wasnt 100%. I will deffinately start stretching more after my runs as well, hopefully be back on track early next week. Thanks for all the advice guys, much appreciated enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Hi Fido, sorry just saw your post after i replied to Howard. My leg doesnt feel right at the moment so if i go for a swim tomorrow that might benefit me better. I suppose its better to have this annoying pain at the beginning of training and not nearer to April! I really need to stretch more as well, i find it soo boring though!
Thanks Howard, im going to go for a swim tomorrow want to keep my fitness levels up. My friend is qualified in sports therapy so have asked her to give me a sports massage, will have it done sometime early in the week. Hi guys, hope everyone is having a nice weekend? I was suppose to go for a 5mile steady run today but only managed 3.5miles, was the worst run ever, knee was still hurting then both legs felt really heavy and felt like i had no energy at all! i am suppose to go for a slow 11miles tomorrow, really dont know what to do. Im too scared to take a few rest days incase i really fall behind. SO frustrating. Advice please??
