I've just got into Conwy again in November, but I'm not building my hopes up for a sub 1:50 in that one - the climb is just too long and too relentless, although I seem to remember the downhill was fun, with aeroplane noises from a runner from Buxton and running like Phoebe from Friends from me!
It's taken me a long time to get my mojo back after my marathon in April - I've kept on running but haven't wanted to race at all. Having said that, I'm now helping a friend train for the Chester Marathon in October, so I'm doing longer runs and hoping that will restore my confidence. I also got within four seconds of my parkrun PB last Saturday and managed my local hill-from-hell last night (first lady up - whooppee!) so maybe, just maybe.....
It's great reading about all your races and training tips though - keep them coming, they inspire and motivate! At the risk of sounding like Mr Grace, "You're all doing very well!"
I wish...but unfortunately I'm on holiday so won't be able to make it after all. Next year maybe... I hope it goes well though - it was a great race last year, the marshalls were brilliant and it was well supported. If only someone could flatten New Zealand Road....
Well I did Manchester this year, and although it was supposedly a lot better organised than last year's, it was still a bit shaky - just don't get me started on the signposts for the parking.... However, the crowd support was fantastic (especailly as it's my local one so the Stockport Harriers were out in force, running and cheering) and I really enjoyed it.
A friend did Stratford on the same day, and again had a great time. I've done the half and it's certainly a pretty route despite the significant hill. We're running one together next year and are trying to decide between the two - at the moment I think Stratford is winning. It's good as other friends can opt for the half so don't feel left out, it's two laps (and I've not run a two lap marathon before) and I used to work with one of the marshals so have at least one guaranteed hug along the way.
Chester's going to have to wait! I'm helping a friend train for it at the moment (she's running, I'm just nodding wisely) and am quite upset that I'm not around to do it (holiday getting in the way) - have to say it sounds good though!
