OK, you're right off course, it is never too late to re-start on strength/stability exes. I should know better, after next week's holiday I shall have to sort myself out ! It's also often said you are never too old to start running and I was a pensioner when starting out. So it must apply to improving muscle strength too.
Your training to me sounds as good as you were 10 years ago, it sure is impressive recently.
Modest running again today...3 miles mid afternoon in cloudy humid conditions. Just not used to creating a sweat on and a red face after a short run. Legs seem more tired these days, yet breathing is not so bad. Heart rate maxed around 140.
Don't know how you do it ! Driving several hours and miles before making for your Hash run sounds a tall order to me. The liquid carbs a little reward for your loyal efforts I guess. Then to do those quarter mile intervals is most admirable I say.
Congrats on being 2nd in your age group in the Blaydon race which is a great result considering the high numbers of oldies! Your trip to Hungary will make a nice welcome break for you and as you say possibly get chance to find some time to do a bit of running.
Most inconvenient when that happens! Hope you have no repeat in your early run tomorrow.
I am guilty of not doing leg exercises, as since they demolished the Don Valley stadium much to the disgust of local athletes, I haven't bothered to visit any other gyms. I feel it is too late for me now, and am satisfied with just getting in some runs now and again.
Like you I found my legs felt heavy this week so in my case not doing so well these days !
You say your arms and shoulders are pathetic.......as long as you keep those legs going that's what matters most
Not done any parkruns for last two Sats, marshalled the first one and the second was postpone due to other events in the park.
Two runs on Monday and today...... Monday...
After the deluge from thunderstorms the sky swiftly cleared leaving plenty of evidence of flooding on trails and paths. I found it better to run through the surface water rather than on the squelchy grass sides.
3 miles......12.11, 12.10, and 11.46.
Fine and fairly sunny and feeling quite warm which made me get quite sweaty.
