A quick visit and short to say I am out of running action. Picked up a nasty virus last week and it is taking some shifting. Also rather to Marg's annoyance my right ear is affected which makes me quite deaf !
Reading the posts but don't feel like posting myself right now.
Welcome back to these shores. South Africa sounds nice and has always appealed to me. When stationed in East Africa eons ago it was possible to hitch hike to Jo'burg etc but one needed plenty of service leave time to do the journey there and back!
Sorry to hear of your brother-in-laws illness.
Not the advice one wants to hear from the GP....."don't run again" . Maybe your consultant will have a different view and comes across with a positive statement.
Not like you to push yourself out of the door to run I always think of you as being keen everytime. You certainly haven't lost much form, if any at all !
Very little running from me for past two weeks, but it doesn't mean I am giving up. I sure don't want to as long as the body can take it.
This morning I did have to push myself out of the door after seeing the gloomy drizzly weather outside. I knew that I'd be disappointed with myself later if I didn't make the effort !
74th 5k Parkrun from me today. I'm afraid the Garmin died at 2.96 miles so the splits are incomplete. First two mile were 9m.48s, and 10m.02s. Might have to purchase a new or "new old" speed watch if this Garmin keeps letting me down.
Official time 31m.09s which is reasonable considering lack of continuity of training. Positioned 82 out of 108 runners. The course was pretty wet after several hours of heavy rain yesterday and last night but no wind to speak of to affect the run.
Bah! Laptop turned off in middle of my posting. I don't like these Windows updates that suddenly cause it with no warning.
Reading about your 28 miles in a day is making me feel very tired !
Keep up your running even if only one a week. I find it hard somedays to push myself outside to maintain the training but with only doing 5k races am not too concerned.
Must be right about painters unable to do rainbows showing correct hues. Secondary rainbows appear quite readily once the primary is sharp and clear. I believe its possible a third one (tertiary) could be seen but I've never known that.
You lead a verrrry busy life filling your days in I don't know how you find time to run
I may need to get my eyes checked too, focusing on screens and reading seems to be different. So may have to wear new specs for looking at screens in particular.
I did a 5k race week before last but didn't report it. Since then a week in Blackpool but no running. Yesterday managed to do 3 miles 12.15,11.27,11.08 in miserable mist and drizzle and on loads of pool covered paths. I could have tried 5k race but felt too tired to do a parkrun this time.
