I can only concur with what others have said. I've strained my calf twice now and the only answer was rest, gentle stretching and ice. I bought some neoprene compression wraps; not sure if they really help but they keep the muscle nice and warm when running in cold weather lol
whatever you do please please don't push it; I did hence the second strain that I'm still nursing (now in week 3)
I have found massage has helped and I'm planning on keeping that up
