Very quiet here!! Hope you are all out there running!
Well I have had a fantastic weekend! I'll start at the beginning: Last weekend I did my 15miler as planned and then I heard about a 15K race for today. I decided to enter as it is very close to home. I did a 6 miler on Tuesday and then was struck down with a sore throat and a bit of a temperature. I didn't run or swim for the rest of the week and was taking cold relief drinks etc. I was in 2 minds to run today as I still felt under the weather but went for it. Anyway, in my hilliest race to date I came 2nd in my age group (45-49) and got a cup and 150 lira!!! To be honest if the race was in England I probably would have been at the back of the field but I'm very happy nevertheless..... There were about 700 people in the 15K and there was also a 5K. My boys ran too in the kids race(500m). They ran well and were very happy with their medals and free McDonald's happy meals!!
So that was an unexpected surprise. I hope it means there will be more races in the area too as this was a new race.
MC - Good luck for your 2nd week at work. Glad everything is going well.
DJ - Hope the doctor can sort you out. I'll look the song up now......
I did my 18 miler today in just under 3:20. (Got up at 5 so I didn't have to run in the heat and it was still dark.) Next week is a drop back week, just 15 miles I think. Everything is going well so far.....
Tomorrow the students come back and my little boy starts at my school. He just had a little tantrum about nothing in particular so I think he must be nervous.
MC - good to hear your new job is going well. A new job is always tiring. Hope you get used to the new routines etc quickly.
AF - well done on your runs and good luck for your races.
A 6 miler yesterday after school. (Still 30C! Gosh when is it going to cool down....) Just a 3 miler planned for tonight followed by an hour in the pool. 18 miles planned for Sunday. Only ever run that far once before ..........
Last shop for small son this weekend before he starts new school on Monday. The other 2 don't start until the following week.
