slugs - good news that your nephew made almost a full recovery. Having studied a lot of brain damage cases when I was doing my MSc in psychology I know these things are very unpredictable and at school we haven't been given a great deal of info, but we have our fingers crossed. At 13 there is still quite a lot of plasticity in the brain I think and new pathways can be formed to make up for certain damage - I guess the neurologists would know more if they have an idea of the extent of any damage. It is early days though - I am sure it will be a long time until we see her in school. I don't know about any other physical injuries/broken bones etc she might have. I believe the crash was caused by a drunk driver. She is one of the fittest girls in the school - rows and plays rugby for the county so hopefully she will pretty determined in her recovery
podds - sorry to hear about the boy in the accident. These things are getting far too common. Tomorrow will be a tough day at school
We did have news this week about the girl that was involved in the RTA here 3 weeks ago, she has finally woken up but unable to speak or recognise anyone. I'm hoping this is something temporary but it looks like it will take a long time for her to be back to anything like normal. Relieved that she is making some progress though.
had a busy busy week and still a bit under the weather, although I thought I was over the lurgy I had. Yesterday just felt rubbish, I am still coughing and feeling light headed. So decided it would be better on everyone around me if I didn't actually go and run the half marathon I was going to do today bit sad about it as the medal looked awesome but no point trying to run that distance when actually standing up feels challenging
got loads of marking to do as we are doing mock exams for years 11, 12 and 13
Pippi - hope you are feeling better
daffs - hope your tooth/gums are finally recovering
podds - that story about the dog cruelty is shocking. Shame is there probably isn't enough money in the system to be able to deal with them properly and turn them around. Hope they don't turn into people torturers and murderers when they get older
