Hi all. Skoolz out so i'm back properly now and hopefully i'll be around a bit more now.I got all my college work done and submitted, but it took a lot of hard work. I have just had a lovely weekend with visits from my family who live in France on Saturday, and then my sister and Dad on Sunday. And two pub meals.Just as well i'm back running to work it all of.I've got another meal out on Wednesday so i'd better do plenty of running this week. I'm back running now after a couple of weeks off,and i'm aiming to be ready to return to club running and Parkrun's by the end of August. Then I will work at slowly building my stamina before I embark on my marathon training in November. AF well done on your marathon. |

Hi everyone. MC, So sorry to hear you missed your race through being ill. It's horrible when you've prepared for something, and then feel unwell on the day.I hope you feel much better, and all the hard work pays off with your running for the rest of the year. Chilli,i'm sorry your op didn't work.Hope you feel better soon, and your training isn't hampered. AF,Hope you are tapering well and looking forward to your marathon. Loula, glad your niggly hip is improving and you are ready to push a bit further again. Louise, that training sounds tough.Well done on surviving it.Any training with the word Kenyan in it is really hard.Unless you are Kenyan, that is.Then it's just a stroll in the park. Jude, hope you are staying safe over there.Sounds like it is getting a bit nasty. Into my last week at college now.Last proper lesson tonight. After next week i will be free to begin my pre marathon training, and getting myself prepared to do the big mileages next winter. |

Morning all. What a lovely day.Nice and sunny although very windy.Stuck at work this morning but only got 1/2hour to go.Got loads of work to do in the garden today, and also loads of college work.Coming up to the last week.I can't wait to be done with it.I haven't enjoyed this year's course at all.All it seems to have been is a rehash of last year, but with loads more homework, and I haven't really learnt anything new.Last years course was really good so i'm very dissapointed. On the gardening front i'm going to be getting some plants and ordering a new shed.I have neglected my garden for the last 2 years. It used to be lovely, but it is in a bit of a state.I'm looking forward to getting it nice again. On the running front,i've got a slight niggle with the extensor tendon on my right foot.Nothing serious,it is just a bit painful now and then.I did twist it very slightly at work a couple of days ago,so i'm sure it will settle with a bit of rest and ice. MC, Good luck tomorrow. Loula, hope your tfl clears up soon.A wise decision not to race after your exertions in the NDW. As to running laps,i asked my sister, who was an elite track runner once upon a time, how she got her head around it,and she says when you are in a race with other similar paced runners, you are busy thinking tactically, jostling for position and trying to psyche each other out,so the laps never get boring.Running against the clock like us normal runners do soon becomes boring if the scenery stays the same. |

Hello everyone.I hope you all had a nice bank hols.I spent 3 days redeveloping my garden.Absolutely shattered now having had to walk a ton of soil from the back garden 40 yards to the front where it will be collected, and i chopped down and cut up a big tree.Already to start planting things next weekend, which is the nice bit of gardening.Didn't get any running done, but i had my fair share of physical exertion.Managed to get some college work done too.I'll be hard at it trying to get all my work done in the next 2 weeks. Then i'm free to concentrate on my running and next years marathon. Franny, well done on a brilliant marathon.I know you were struggling a bit in the run up,and had big injury troubles last year,so a PB is a fantastic result.I'm so pleased for you. |

Hi everyone. Well lots to catch up on. Loula and Rocker, well done on a fantastic NDW.Brilliant running. Chilli, hope you are keeping ok.And well done to your girls for their running exploits in recent weeks. AF,don't be too down about your 10k time. You have been very busy on the running front recently, and aiming for longer distances. You will probably find if you trained specifically for 10k,then the long distance training your doing now will have helped and you will be faster.Good luck in the South Downs.I hear that's a toughie, but very scenic.Ideal for a nice plod. Louise, hope your ankle gets better soon. Well it's been fairly quiet here.Still getting over the remnants of my chest infection, and my wife has been really struggling with her MS.Done a bit of running, but not much.Really busy with college which is very stessful as it's nearly the end. Had a nice time last Saturday when we went to see my comedy (and marathon)hero Eddie Izzard in his stand up show Force Majeure. He was as brilliantly bonkers as ever. Looking forward to finishing college and then concentrating on running for the next year. Have a good day all. |
