Hi everyone,It's been great reading all your race reports. You all did brilliantly.
AF I see you are about to get bitten by the ultra bug.
Well I managed to get out for another comeback run of a mile. And it was so hard.My lungs were burning and it took ages to get my breath back afterwards.I think that is because this 5 week lay off was because of a chest infection,But I did it,which is the main thing.I will go out again tomorrow, and then Monday.I'm going to build slowly, but make sure I go out exactly as scheduled and run the planned distance,no matter what.I really need to get into a regular habit.
I have a deferred place in the next Brighton Marathon,so I will decide if I want to commit to it over the weekend. At the moment,i'm leaning in favour of doing it,although it will be a big effort after my injury/illness problems. But I remember how good I felt about myself after my last one 3 years ago.
Well done on all the marathons and races and training runs. Some brilliant marathon running efforts.
I'm going to start back on my running tomorrow and hope to recapture my love of running.I really haven't enjoyed it for the last year, but I think not being so tired from work may allow me to feel the love for it again.
I do promise to try and keep up a bit more with this group in future.
As ever I have to begin by apologising for going AWOL again.I have been very busy sorting out my late father's estate and clearing his house. It is now on the market and hopefully will soon be sold,so we can move on.Sorry I have missed so much.I will make a bigger effort to keep up in future.
I have finished work and I'm having a small break while I sort things out.It feels strange not getting up for work each day.
On the running front, I haven't been able to do much,as I have had a really bad chest infection, but it is now nearly gone,so i'll start next week.I will be entering next year's Brighton Marathon so I have a year to get myself back into top form.I've still got a lot of work to do on my leg strength after my recent injury. It's time to get down to it.
On the subject of Brighton, I hope AF has a good race this weekend.
Hi everyone. Sorry i have been away for a while.Things have been very busy with work and college. Also i have been putting a lot of work into my wife's disability benefit appeal which is next week.On top of this i have been very busy getting my parents house ready to sell.
We were in danger of being flooded up until last week, but the army came and diverted the river, and now the flood water is rapidly disappearing. It was very worrying.
I am leaving my job,and my last day is Friday.I will be really glad to leave it behind. It has been an awful job,and recently has got a lot worse.I will have a bit of a break to de-stress and figure out what i'm going to do next. And i will have a bit of time to get properly back into my running. It is the long hours in this job, that have really derailled my running over the last couple of years.
I am still just doing short runs a couple of times a week at the moment as i get over my knee injury.I intend to start going a bit further next week.
I decided not to rejoin the running club this year.I have barely been able to train with them for 2 years due to work and injury,so i thought it would be better to train on my own for a while and rejoin next year if i am ready.
Chili,i hope you are getting over your operation and feel much better.
AF, Happy Birthday for last week.
Spartak, good to hear from you again my friend.Life on Skye sounds good.Do keep in touch. You have been missed.Glad you are enjoying your running again.
To all the other CRAC members, well done on all your runs and races.
I'll try and keep in touch better, now i am about to get a bit more time on my hands.
Chili,do take it easy and look after yourself.Once the op is done and you feel better there will be plenty of time to rebuild your fitness.Hope you don't feel too poorly.
Sluggish hope you have got over your flu.
Jude that is really good news. All of your children must make you so proud.
Jo,hope your calf is on the mend.
Lainey, well done on a great run.
Went out for another run yesterday, and did 1.5 miles. On each run I remember the title of this thread and try to go just a little bit further. Not too much as I don't want to have any setbacks.I'm really pleased with my progress so far, considering I was having to use a walking stick a month ago.I've lost 4lbs this month too,so I'm quite happy on the training/fitness front.
I'm going to be leaving my job soon.I am getting my inheritance money soon, which will pay off my mortgage and leave me able to find a less stressful job,so I'm going to leave and use some of my money to change my career direction.I hate my current job,and on Friday my manager announced that he was leaving and I have been told that my workload will get much heavier as a result. So time to walk away and leave all the stress behind.
