LMS ... do be a bit careful. I bought new running shoes (Saucony Grid Omni 3s) and they may well have been a large contributory factor in me getting acute achilles tendonitis.

Go easy until you are comfortable that they are not contributing to any stiffness and risking injury.

Do many people here use various sports as part of their training routines ?

I recently did the NY Marathon, despite acute achilles tendonitis. Despite being an above average squash, badminton and tennis player, I neglected these sports almost in their entirety during my build up, and I am now wondering whether their neglect was a contributory factor to my injuries as most of these sports will help with flexibility and replace, or enhance, most stretching routines.

Anyone any thoughts, either in agreement or to the contrary ? I will probably refrain from squash until I feel they are properly beeter (a good friend ruptured his achilles on the squash court which wasn't nice) but am tempted to try racketball or badminton with inferior opposition.

Material things don't really matter. So long as you have enough so to speak. Roof over your head, a means to travel (bus pass or car) and enough to take you on any sort of break occassionally.

My earning power in the rat race is probably quite significant, but I have been sick of it for at least the last 4 years, and I won't go back in unless there really are no alternative options.

I guess I could contract (IT) part time and better my previous income, while still improving my work/life balance, and that is one of the options currently under investigation. It's amazing how many opportunities really are out there if you take the time to look for them.
