DON't EY look good- NOT!

Shame about weather..def slowed us.  Wet cold legs caused mine to go numb! Did a good time though!

Course was altered about 6 an half miles- Each mile marker from 7 was 0.31-0.39 ish LONG, measured 25.7 miles overall . But i guess they had to? I would of ran through ankle deep water but anymore? Maybe not. Did not know i had finished due to lack of finish banner or chalk mark? Or something, Had to ask photographers. Long walk round stadium & up hill to get a medal (goody bag crud, advertiser rubbish for womens/man run mag ,not even a free mag) but understandable.

Great marshalls/spectators along the route (very brave!) This was advertised as a 'Flat' Mara .HOWEVER course was twisty and undulating. Little ups/downs along the many cycle type paths.  Although I don't fancy travel up fro Southampton again, i think overall it was a fine Marathon. Despite th ups, it could be a fast course on a 'No Wind/Wet day'.

Enjoyed my bath at Novatel after , as had a late check out until 5PM!

I enjoy challenges, kinda love to hate full Mara BUT

Bungay was Fantastic 2010! .. dropped at at 20-22 in 1991 (diff route-I am sure ther is  a new rd now) , this yr finished but once again went too fast 1st half (1.31) - thighs gave way at 18m, jogged in at 15 min miles from 20m., was a wee bit warm but had a breeze (15-18 degrees tops)..(3.46) BUT if you pace the course, the hills are ok, not steep but just long about 4 or 5 of them x2.. .. Some peops like the up & then down rather than (mentally hard,metro-knome) FLAT!!!

Great organisation, showers, massages, commentary at the finish & great scenary. I felt well spread out & alone but with a few guys to chase. Would of prefered the half mara to start at 1pm not 12.30 as they did all pile passed in last 5 miles ! LOL (my pacing).God i felt like death! ..

Made a wk end of it & stayed in lovely b&b wi my lady (poor lady waiting for me).. would do again...  .. I may have a go at Halstead Mara just to see if can better this V40 best..did 3.03 in 1991 at Shakespeare, be nice to run 3.20 as a vet... 3.08 target..

NF 3.13, & 3.31

London 1987-3.26

Gosport ..3.32..

A few dnf's ....Better at short distances includes 1992 Half Mara 1.10.46..& 32 10k e.t.c..
