Hi all, can anyone advise me in how best to get to the start. I'm booked in a hotel by metro centre, but when I checked the national rail trains there isn't any early in the morning. I'm unsure what to do didn't really want to pay for a race transfer with nirvana.
Thanks

Hello!

This is my first year me and my boyrfriend have done the GNR and we are looking for accomodation options. We'd welcome any advice or options as I'm sure a few of you on here are seasoned pro's and can point us in the right direction.

Cheers

gemma, this is my first great north run also, i think booking accomodation and getting around seems a bit of a minefield, i have a family coming with me and after lots of looking around went with nirvana (as they seem to have a hold on all accomodation in the area) at a hotel by the metro shopping centre, im going to get the train into haymarket as suggested earlier to the start and my family will get the metro towards the finish line. wasn't cheap booking but the longer i leave it i was scared it may be booked out. if just the 2 of you then you should see lots of choice, just depends on how much you want to spend. all the best

good luck to you uberdude, last year was my first full year of running and did 6 events, i have learned that generally i pushed myself to far in training at times, trying to break my times all the time, now i realise its just training, save it for race days. Think thats where i picked up my niggles.
