Hi all wondered if anyone can offer advice? I've been diagnosed with sciatica and a herniated disc and so have been told not to run by the gp. However I'm getting different info from others. Some say walking and running is fine and actually, when I do run, it does not actually hurt and I make sure I warm up and do lots of stretching after. Is there anyone who suffers with this or can offer advice? I'm missing my running and Im hoping to still do the great north in sept.
Thanks! Xxxx

Oh dear I hope ur feeling better? Just seen your post and I have to say putting in the training and effort u owe it to yourself to carry on. You know how much better u feel after. Focus. And be kind to yourself. As a fellow runner who battles depression ( running helps me massively!) I understand. Let us all know how u get on. Big hug?

Hi all any help or advice? Did my first 10k 3 weeks ago and got really I'll after- had to stop training( I've entered for great north in sept) as I felt dreadful and had to take antibiotics.I'm in my third week of no training and( in a huge attempt to get well again) and now my lower back is agony.I'm on my feet alot in my job and think it's from driving alot( 3 hrs a day in the seat). I'm feeling really low as running helps me battle my depression, and I was looking forward to continuing my training in preparation for the half marathon. I've had my bad back before( it's my sciatic nerve) but don't know what to do now for the best and am truly fed up. ??sorry for sounding do desperate!

Id like to do 2 half marathons, each in the same month, within two weeks of each other. Both courses close to my heart so thats why i want to do them both! Is this safe and do i risk injury doing them so close together? it would be my first half marathon, after successfulltycompleting my first 10k last week ( now im hooked!).Im currently in training. What do you all think?
