Weedy, time to take me off the list. I officially withdrew from The Wall today. Haven't run for 5 weeks and I'm finally getting an X-Ray on Friday.
Still, a good rest from running will do me a lot of good; I've been ticking over the 50 mile per week mark for most of the past 5 years, and have picked up so many niggles that are finally getting time to heal.
I've defered my entry to 2014, so will follow all you lunatics and can't wait for all your accounts of your crazy adventures. I'll see you next year (assuming any of you are mad enough to return!!!!)
Well that gentle run was a disaster. Ended up hobbling back the last 2.5 miles. Seems that 8 days rest has made it a whole lot worse, and then pain is allover the plantar facsia too. My last hope now is to completely stay off it for 2 - 3 weeks and try to keep the cardio going with cycling. I'll have to accept the loss of a huge chunk of fitness, but it might still be a way to line up at Carlisle. Other than that, I'm f**ked.
Went over to Lilleshall this evening for an initial examination of my foot problems. Definately a bone issue and warrants an Xray but in the meantime I've been given a green light to continue running (sensibly) unless the pain gets worse. Wouldn't commit to a stress fracture diagnosis without the xray and left me optimistic that it may just be a bone bruising issue. I think that abstaining from running for 8 days has certainly improved it; the question will remain whether the pain comes back when I run on it tomorrow.
8 days without a run. Booked in at the National Sports Centre Lilleshall tomorrow evening for a check-up and hopefully some positive news. So tempted to just go for a short one to try it out, but will wait until tomorrow. Feel like I've put on a stone already.
