Hmmmmph......... *tries to bite lip*....... Orion 15 - taken place in Epping Forest since 1954 (apart from 2001 - cancelled due to over-reaction to foot and mouth ), history here ... http://www.orionharriers.org.uk/fifhist.htm Might not think it was an overreaction if you were a farmer whose entire heard had just quite literally gone up in smoke. |

There's a good list here - which reminded me of two local races - the Mitcham 25k and the London-Brighton, both of which are no longer running. Is that the road race you're refering to? As far as I am aware there is a London - Brighton trail race that runs annually, not sure weather it has anything to do with the original though. |

so you agree it is possible someone wearing headphones and listening to iPod/generic MP3 player possibly wouldn't hear a train coming? that is strange because all headphone wearers who post here are fully aware of their surroundings and their hearing is not impaired at all while running. I tend to avoid running on train tracks |

Anyhoo..... I know the Bob Graham round has a long history, first completed by the man himself back in 1930s (I can't recall the exact date) and whilst not a typical "race" can be found in many race calendars under "individual attempt". Along that line many of the northern fell races have a long history too, dating back to late 1800s, Grassmere and Borrowdale spring to mind. Outside that I'm not too sure |

See: http://www.100marathonclub.org.uk/new/members/question_and_answer.shtml "Q. Are there any exceptions to this rule? A. Yes, the committee has decided that the long running Windermere 10 Marathons in 10 Days challenge shall continue to be counted as 10 separate marathons for 100 Marathon Club purposes. The reason we are saying this is that each day is in fact an exact measured road marathon of 26m 385y, still upholding the integrity of the marathon. Other events will only be considered as exceptions if they meet these criteria."
