I'm off to Menorca for a fortnight to stay in a lovely hotel/spa sort of a place. It's got a beach, some trails and I think a bit of a hill on the road. I'm coming back to a five week gap to my next race where I want to try and hit 50 minutes for a 10K. I was on pace for doing this round York 10K this morning then died on my arse at 6K, walked and jogged a bit and did the last 2.5K on pace.
Any advice on what I should do training-wise whilst on hols? Need to work on fitness but not spend my entire holiday running up and down the cliffs.
Anyone found they've got a real throbbing ache around the knees after this morning's very cold Parkrun? I hadn't been out for two weeks and was wearing shorts so I'm guessing it's a combination of exposure and lack of practice. Hurt like hell for about an hour afterwards though.
I'm looking for a bit of advice. I've noticed lately that my lungs aren't able to keep up with my legs.
My legs aren't tiring over a 5K Parkrun anymore having trained up to the Great North Run this year but whilst they're definitely able to give me more I'm absolutely gasping when I get anywhere near a PB, currently 23:47. I get a bit lost with all the different types of training sessions so can anyone point me at the type of session I should be doing so that I'm not running out of puff so quick?
