Hi Stylis - I hope everything goes well with your trip to India. Under the circumstances it is completely understandable that your training has to take a backseat.
I think I will use my Saturday HM in the same you're using yours - as a 'pacer' than anything else. Certainly not a PB or anything like that. My March HM I would definitely want to do sub2:00 but with this one I will just do it in marathon pace, as you will do Stylish.
I've already put in all my mileage for the weekly runs (5M Tue, 7M Wed and just did 4M now) so all that remains is rest tomorrow and the HM on Saturday (book-ended by a 1M on each end). Exciting!
How is everyone's training week shaping up? I just did my 'hard' run for today (5 miles in 41:52 mins). I can't really go with the way the training plan describes the hard runs so I end up mixing and matching a bit of impromptu fartlek with steady/fast pacing. So far it has been alright.
As I'm following the RW sub4:30 planner, tomorrow will be 7 miles (slow) and Thursday will be a 4-miler.
The planner suggests 15 miles to incorporate a half marathon on Sunday but the only fairly local HM to me is the Race Your Pace one in Windsor, which is on a Saturday. I've entered that so hopefully it should go okay. I'm not expecting a PB (not even expecting sub2:00 really) but would be nice to just get it done, and then there'll be the Fleet Half which I'll do in March.
I hope I won't burn out having 2 HMs prior to the full marathon but if that's what the planner suggests, then it should be okay.... right?
