It's my 2nd marathon, my first was 2 years ago, but I get stitch in the same place (right side) which moves to under my rib cage and gets so painful I have to stop running and bend double. This helps for a while but it usually comes back. I only seem to get it on my longer runs of over an hour but its the first time I have ever had this problem when training and I wondered if anyone can give me some advice as to what to do. The only change I have made since my first marathon is to change from dairy to soya for health reasons. Could this be the problem? I really don't want to go back to dairy. Any ideas?
At last I've found a thread that deals with my problem. Thought I was the only person in the world to experience this. Thanks guys, I'll try the stretching as this is a weak point of my running.
Ran with hubby for first time and he managed to drag me round in 53m 47s a PB for me so was really pleased, still mean to break 50mins and will try at the Elmbridge 10K run in July. This is another local run and another very flat one.
By the way, what happened to the water station on the second loop? Was carrying own water but was looking forward to cup of cold water by 4K, thank goodness for the kind people who put a table up and handed out water at about 8K.
Well done all, feel really good now but must go and do ironing!
