Hi Guys I hope you don't mind me sharing but i think i could use some advice. I started running 2 years ago and was enjoying it immensely, i joined my local running club and started to compete at races. As i trained for a marathon i made friends with one of the other members at the running club, to cut a long story short he acted very inappropriately (stalking), and his behaviour eventually led me to complain to the police (who issued a notice to him) and i complained to my running club (after finding out that i was not the first person he had exhibited this behaviour to) I have left the running club and am really struggling to enjoy running anymore, not only from the safety aspect but i feel this man took away my love of running as i now associate running with him, and what he put me through. How can i fix this? Does anyone have and advice at all? Thanks |

Hi I Mouse Thanks for the advice about the clothing, think i will start pre warming my clothes and see if that helps. I have been running for about a year but i do admit its only the last few months i have tried to really up my mileage. My weight isn't fantastic (5'6 and 11.5stone) but i have lost 6.5 stone over the last two years so its all going downwards. I have a feeling that my issues may be nutrition based but i just can't place where i am going wrong! |

Dont be sorry for the questions! - I am just really glad to be getting some useful advice! I run on average 4 times a week. 2x5miles (with my running club) 1x6-8miles and one over 10 miles. It is the 10 miler i am currently trying to gradually build up. On the day of a long run i make sure i drink lots of water and eat a carby meal at lunch time. I then don't eat or drink for about hour before i run (found its the only way to stop getting stitches). I take water on long runs but rarely finish it and find it a struggle to drink (although i do force down little sips) I am based in Cornwall so unfortunatly all of my runs are pretty hilly, although we do specific hill training at my running club so i am quite happy running hills and don't really find them an issue so much. Hope that gives a bit more background |

Hi Ratzer, In races i run about a 9:20min mile (last race was 7 miles) My long runs i average between 10-11min miles so i do try to do them significantly slower. |
