My 100 mile bike ride went well! Completed it in 6 hours 32 minutes, which was 5 minutes slower than the previous year, but considering i had only done 8 weeks training and none of it on my bike, i was rather happy. My running has been going well too! Managed my longest run last week, when i got through 4 miles in 40 minutes, i was absolutely delighted.....even though my legs werent! I then spoilt all the hard work with far too much beer on Friday night, followed by a day of stodge food on the Saturday!
Was that the Tameside 10k you did David? Looked quite a challenging course, not sure i could have done it!
Sounds like a lovely holiday Jill, sometimes just what you need to recharge the batteries!
I have booked and paid to enter this event, (i was going to use this to assess my fitness before joining the local tri club) but unfortunately i cant go. I fell off my bike 2 days ago and have broker my leg now the policy is no refunds, but i can transfer the entry to someone else. If there is anyone here who was thinking of entering and is happy to reimburse me for my entry (i will pay the £5 tranfer fee). If not ill have to see if i can transfer it to another event early next year.
'Remember too, you are never last; it's the non-runners standing watching, wishing they could do what you are doing that are way behind you. Get out there and inspire not only the non-runners but the faster ones too!'
This is what you should bear in mind (i couldnt get the quote to work properly)! Its only too slow when you dont bother! I did my first 5k parkrun two weeks ago and did it in 35 mins 17 seconds, i had a personal target of 40 minutes. I treat it as a personal challenge against myself, this time was to run the full 5k without walking, which i did. Next will be to beat my time if i finish last then so be it. But i always bear in mind that i am always one place ahead of my friends who say i am mad to be up so early running! and that keeps me going!
Good luck to everyone doing this event tomorrow! Im sure you will all smash it! Would have loved to come down and offer some support.....but ill be nursing a birthday hangover and preparing to cycle 100 miles on my birthday!
