Saw a guy laid out being given fluids through an IV drip by paramedics shortly after the turn at Gosford House. Seems to happen at every race.
Unfortunately I came out of it with a calf injury, my left calf started seizing up at mile 9 and then seemed to fix itself at mile 14. However, I woke up the next morning with being agony and tough to even walk.
I've heard about the carb stasrving then loading method before and that it can work well, however I'd be unable to do much and be in a foul temper if I was doing it so will likely leave it alone!
Yeah with the carb loading, the purpose of having things like jelly babies and sports drink is so that you can get the carbs without feeling full and like "I don't want anymore". Plus, if you had 20 bowls of porridge on the day before the race, it could end up making an unwelcome reappearance when you're running!
