There was one particular lane on the course which was treacherous and because it is not all closed roads, the Police wouldn't agree to "police" it as they were too concerned of any cars approaching runners of skidding into them. Right decision. The race has been going for around 32 years and only been cancelled twice, in 2013 and 2015, I think due to the fact the Police obviously stricter re their H&S re the roads and we are now in such a litigious society and insurance would be void. I doubt there is any way the club will move it at the moment BUT if this kept happening, then obviously it would need to be considered as it is such a pain in the arse for everyone.
Glad the injury abating, just don't ignore any huge niggles hey?
I say the term "helping with baggage" loosely. There were approx 10 bags dropped in and I just stood around looking twattish with borrowed thermal huge socks on. After the disaster of our baggage at the Half last year, we went OTT with a huge rented tent and hardly anyone needed/used it! That'll teach us that being crap at organising is far more fun...
Morning fellow P&D'ers. I am in. Defo defo defo. On week 12 on road to Manchester and I AM GONNA STICK WITH THE THREAD. After a crap 12 months running wise, which is ok, that's life, we can't all be top afleets all the time, I have spent 2 months doing consistent strength training (my weakness) and really am starting to feel benefits, so fingers crossed; here's to a good marathon in April, I will just be turning 40 the week before so hopefully my first race as a Vet 40 will be a f*cking ace one! I had decided to do my own training but soon realised it is just so much easier to stick to worshipping at the Church of Pftzinger.
Hope all the usual old timers are well and hello to all the newer P&D'ers.
15West - yep Helsby Half was cancelled last minute by the Police, gutted! Wasn't doing it but was helping in baggage and freezed me tits off for 5 hours for naff all.
Hi all - just checking in to see how everyone did at Chester! I have had shite few weeks with illness and life getting in way of training so I swapped my full marathon place to the metric. Had a lovely race, really enjoyed it and finished in 2:14. Was great to link in with the marathoners but felt a bit of a fraud! Saw Mennania at the finish too. Well done everyone - you all sound like the magic P&D did the trick and am interested to also read the success with the Hanson plan too.
