I'm about to enter the Manchester event and it will be my first marathon. I've had an on/off 3 years of running but have been building my mileage up in preparation and have done 90 miles so far in October. I'm not sure what plan I'll use but the ASICS online one has predicted my time as 3:53 on 4 runs a week. Not sure if that is feasible! I'm going to struggle getting the time to do 50-60 mile weeks but I'm determined to give it a go. If my target race pace is just under 9 min/mile should I be doing my LSR a lot slower than this? I am only running 11 miles at the moment, but to do that at my marathon pace seems slow to me and it would feel unnatural to slow it down 60 or 90 seconds as I've read on some plans.
I really enjoyed this race - my first HM and a time of 1:45:27
It was really cold at the start especially after waiting an extra ten minutes on the starting line for all the traffic to get in - my carefully timed warm-up was useless! The race soon got going though and it was a great course - not really hilly but I did have a slow mile for mile #12 as it was a mild climb and I was knackered
