Thanks for your replies Richard and bos1. My GP said that he didn't think there would be any affect on my running but he wasn't really sure and said I shouldn't take them if I'm worried they will affect me. I've only been prescribed 20mg so it's quite a low dose anyway. I've taken one but I'll think carefully before I take any more.

Hi everyone. I suffer from anxiety and depression and have been presribed citalopram. I am training for my first marathon and I asked my GP if taking the citalopram would affect my performance. He said not but I wonder if anyone has used these whilst running and what affect if any there has been? I've done some research on google and it seems that some people have been adversely affected.

I'm happy with 9 - 10 minutes per mile but I am training for a marathon. When I did my first 5K I was happy with 27 minutes. Sorry I can't be of more help. You sound like you're running at elite pace. Maybe if you run 4 times and do short sprintss it may help. You're not that far off your goal though are you craigno_1?

I generally run on my own and recently had to stop as someone asked me for directions which was a bit annoying but it does't happen often. However, when I run with a friend on a long run then we often talk and it's fun and helps to pass the time. Also when I pass people especially a fellow runner I always shout a greeting.

Just received the September 2012 (yes September!) issue and it's much better than last month's magazine.
