Hi all - I can't keep up with this thread! I am lurching from one problem to the next - my calf has now cleared up but I have a really tight chest and no energy - doc thinks it's stress and has prescribed beta blockers... Hopefully I'll get running soon. Last time I did a problem free run it went pretty well, so I don't think I'm that unfit... Well done to all of the racers - some vg results coming in. |

TR sounds very similar. Mine stopped me dead just like yours. I've been stretching too and can cycle without pain which is at least something. I take your point about limping while running - if I find I'm doing this I will rest for longer as I'll just end up injuring something else too. |

Hi All Well done for persevering in Dublin BR. You'll be back to your best soon. Having just started getting excited about running again I have gone and injured myself immediately - felt a stabbing pain in my calf which forced me to stop and walk. Hoping it will ease quickly but am going to have to use the exercise bike for the next couple of days. My half marathon in Jersey on 18 Nov is in jeopardy... |

JB - thanks for the introduction. Re the fatness - I'm sure that's not true; however that will be an issue for me if I'm going to get competitive again - racing weight is about 73kgs, current weight more like 78... Slight demotivating factor is that I just got married and I think my wife prefers me with a little bit of fat on me... RB - no problem re the expiry of my time - wouldn't feel right anyway seeing as I am nowhere near that level now. Would currently be pleased to run a 10k at my then marathon pace... |

Hi all - hope you don't mind if I join the thread? I am trying to get back to fitness following a 2:42 marathon at FLM in 2006 and then pretty much nothing since! Will try a half marathon in a month or so but I doubt I'll break 80 mins - probably more like 81-82. Depending on how that goes will think about getting into some serious training for London to try to break 2:45 again. Have been reading back a bit and see that JEJ has gone from strength to strength. I think we ran together for a bit at London - you were wearing patriotic Mayflys if I remember rightly - but I would be miles behind now (literally...). Seriously impressive. Anyway, looking forward to a bit of banter as I try to regain some speed (and the desire to run 26.2 miles)... |
