Hello

I am running the London Marathon in April and am then looking to sign up for my first Triathalon later in the year to give me another target to aim at. Problem is I cant swim front crawl and I have a mountain bike - I think I can do the 10km run in under 60 mins but dont know how long the 40km on a bike takes a novice and how long it would take a crap swimmer to do 1.5km

Can anyone let me know what a basic target should be for each section please?

thanks David

I am having the same dilemna but for a different reason - I will only wear them if they are supposed to make me go faster or longer etc - when I ran the canberra marathon everyone was wearing them and thought they really helped

So if anyone can tell me that they will get me going faster or longer than I am prepared to have my kids/wife/friends/neighbours take the **** out of me - if not then I wont wear them!

I have found that doing the exercise bike and rowing machine certainly helped tone me up a bit and I gently started running again, 3 miles then 5 miles and yesterday 7 miles with none of that problem

I will find a compression vest and thanks for the tip - sounds like Nike is the way to go on that front.

My latest challenge has then been what I think is kidney pain on the left side of my back just my by shoulder blade - could be that I havent been drinking much (watching the scales too much) So now I am trying to drink like crazy to get rid of that problem!! Hope I havent knackered my kidneys

Its a right minefield this getting healthy lark isnt it!

I am losing weight by running, exercise bike and rowing machine and have been getting back pain whilst running which has got me off the road.
It feels like excess skin or fat on my back and front bounces up and down and pulls on my back - sounds ugly doesn't it!
I was 15st 10 when I started in August and am now down to 14st 8 so I am not the biggest loser or anything - does anyone know if this is common and if so if there is anything I can do about it?
I need to keep training cos i have signed up for london marathon in 2012 and need to beat my PB of 4hr 9mins

ideas? advice?
