I finished it in 44 mins, which I was quite happy at considering that was my 1st XC in 17 years. My PB for 5 miles is 38 mins, but those hills absolutly took it out of my legs on the 3rd lap. was running at 10 min miles by the time I got over the last hill. Some of the other lads in my club said that was one of the hardest courses they’ve done in years, so I picked a good one to start with. Ha ha.
p.s. I was at that same hold-up when that person jumped over the marker, and I know that said person as they train with our club sometimes. I wont give out any names, but ill give them a telling off next time I see him. He he
This weekend will be my first PECO race and im looking forward to it. I used to live on the other side of the woods so the course should be pretty interesting I reckon. Its 5.2 miles this weekend isnt it?
I completed 2 last year, the Hull marathon on Easter Sunday and then the Liverpool in October. I didnt feel any adverse effects.
I would say one you've done the 1st marathon you perhaps dont quite need to put in the same hours each week once you've reached that level of fitness, however I would say you must keep up the long runs at the weekend to keep your body conditioned for long distances.
I did my first track session in years last night. 1 mile warm-up then 5 x 800m race pace with 200m recovery between each set. My legs feel it today. Deffo a rest day for me.
Im in and cannot wait. RE the costs. I think its pretty reasonable for a city marathon. Seem to remember paying £58 for Liverpool last year, which I would put on a par with this one. Bargain.
