It doesn't fit in with my training schedule - I'd been planning to work on bringing down my shorter distance times this year but I am seriously tempted!
Might have to do it with the run/walk method rather than racing it so I can do it with minimal long-distance training...
I actually had my strangest marathon yet in Edinburgh! Over the past couple of months I've admittedly taken on a bit too much as prior to Edinburgh I also completed Brighton Marathon (3h47m), Greater Manchester Marathon (3h43m) and Rat Race's Dirty Weekend (200 obstacles over 20 miles).
Because of this, my plan for Edinburgh was to stick to 9 min mile pace and finish in 3h55m but on the day I covered the first couple of miles in 9 min miles but then seemed to speed up as the miles went on... I ended up completed the majority of the race at 8:30 pace with the last few miles at 8 minute/mile pace!
In the end my finishing time was 3h38m giving me a new PB by over 5 minutes! Can anyone explain why that was, as a week later I still can't understand how it happened?!?!
I did the 30k last year as training for my first marathon, and am really tempted to do the marathon this year. Really well organised race with a great start venue, and great scenery throughout.
I'm surprised they even managed to shift 2,500 places still in the time the site was up with the amount it was messing around!
I was refreshing like mad (and no doubt contributed to the site falling over as a result) but didn't have any luck - I'll be gutted if I miss out when it comes back online!
Arrrgghhh - I was in, as per the list, but am unable to run it now. Does anyone know if I can defer entry or pass on my number ot someone else? Have got a feeling you're not allowed to do either on this one?
