Hello everyone, looking forward to my first half marathon tomorrow! Can anyone who's done it before advise on how long the queues for the portaloos generally are?! I'm just trying to plan how long to allow to queue for

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I’m aiming for under 2 hours. At the moment I’ve got up to 11 miles and did that in 1 hour 37, so theoretically I should be able to do it. I’d like to do a 12 mile run before the race though anyway, just for confidence more than anything. I think I agree that 12 miles a week before the race is probably not a good idea though, so maybe I’ll just try and get it in 3 or 4 weeks before instead.

Thanks very much for your advice!

Haha, I would love to be get some of my long runs out of the way during the week, but realistically I can’t see myself fitting in a 2 hour run + warm down + shower and get dressed etc, before I leave for work at 7:15am – even if I saved time by not eating beforehand and waiting 2 hours like I normally do, I would have to get up at about 4:30am, which I’m not dedicated enough to do!

Going after work is a possibility, but I really doubt I would be able to run 12 miles well after a day at work, so ideally I’d do the long run at the weekend. I’m just not sure if doing a long run 1 week beforehand is ok, or if I should keep it to a shorter run that close to the race?

Hello,

I am doing a half marathon in October and am following a training plan which advises doing a 12 mile run 2 weeks before the race. I already know I'm not going to be able to fit this in due a wedding that weekend, so should I do the 12 mile run the week after (so 1 week before the race) or the week before (so 3 weeks before the race)? I'm planning on getting another 12 mile run in before that as well.

Thanks
