Good afternoon all.

Just back from 6 1/2 mile run today and struggled for the first 3.  After that I got into my stride and enjoyed the rest of the run. I don't know if it was a knock on effect from doing 2 halfs in a week, even though I did 7 miles on Wednesday and felt good.

Good luck to everybody running this weekend and have a nice weekend to everyone else.

B&T - At least we can make up for lost time now.  Good luck on your half marathons.

Just back from a 5 mile run to ease me back into it after my half marathons. Well it was supposed to be a 5 mile run, but bumped into a mate who is training for the Frankfurt marathon and ended up doing just over 7 miles.  Felt good for 6 miles and then started to feel it, so another 2 days rest coming up for the Biglad.  Enjoy the rest of your day everyone and happy running

Black and Tabby - I am delighted with my times and have totally got the running bug going through my veins now.  I am just so gutted that I wasted so many years being overweight and inactive.

Yvonne2 Thanks very much for the kind words.

With regards to how I felt between the 2 Halfs in 8 days, I had a rest day after the first and decided to go for a 5 miler the next day, big mistake, the worst run of my short running life.  The biggest problem was prior to the 5 mile run I felt great but within 10 minutes my legs were like lead.  So then I had 2 rest days then did a 10k run in a reasonable time and felt great, then took another 2 days off prior to the 2nd half.

The second half was fantastic, as I felt great from the start to the end.  It was a 6.55mile course, and after I finished the first lap I went for it and took 2 minutes off the first lap.  I felt like I could have done one more but never the 4th, not until next year maybe.

Anyway good luck for your races and don't make the same mistake I did, take plenty of rest in between races.
