Going to rest for 2 / 3 days and re focus on shorter faster runs with hills... try and improve my HM time for Highland Perthshire HM on 1st Sept. Might enter the local Stonehave HM in 1st July but as a training run.... got 1:46:46 in Edinburgh Rock n Roll, I want sub 1:45 result... thats the plan anyway...
HM - sounds an awful experience. Well done for not quitting
Gaz - think I might have been better doing nothing for 3 weeks, have a feeling it wasnt the best pushing the miles up again so soon..
Keeping up with the speed this forum moves is harder work than running!!
Thanks EVERYONE for your congratulations!!... I am a marathoner!! So chuffed!!
I tries gels on one run and decided not for me, as is seemed to stay in my throat... I also tried the gel blok things equally as horrid.. so I opted for energy bars of one kind or another and jelly babies.. but I am a foodie... I wouldnt consider any food stuffs for anything less than 17 - 20 miler... prob not even water...!! When doing my longer Sunday morning runs I usually get up eat porridge and go back to bed for an hour or so!! to allow it to digest a bit...
My next plan... well... maybe HM mid July, def HM in Aug 31, thinking ultra in Aberdeen in March 2013 and maybe Berlin in September 2013... I was suppose to do another marathon on the 31 August but my physio has suggested I dont try to kill my body all together in the 1st year of running!!
BTW - how long does post marathon blues last for....?? recent runs are like running through mud with weights on.. almost harder work then the dam marathon...
Teknip..... not been on for a long while but I did it...!! You were great help when I started training for my marathon, having only started running in September.. I though on more than 1 occassion that I had bitten off more than was sensible... But in April I completed my 1st half marathon in 1:46:46 and a little over a week ago I completed my 1st marathon in 3:59:20 !! I can't thank you enough for your encouragement and support when I started out... Now think I am suffereing post marathon blues, but wondering "what next"
I'm off for a wee recovery run with my friend tonight. He is a new runner... (not yet 2 months) so will be a good chance for me to stretch my legs after 22.2 miles on Sunday without the possibility of overdoing it.. I will allow him toset the pace and just encourage him.... Looking forward to it!!
