Hi,

I'm doing pretty much the same, I've got a whopping 11 stone to lose! So I really need to keep motivated. I'm going to be using the C25K program (couch to 5K), I'm not sure if that's the same thing as the 5K app that you've got?

Anyway good luck! And I hope we both succeed. I hope to give regular updates.

Hi,

I'm hopping to start running soon, after I've spoken with my GP (because I'm very over weight). And I was wondering what motivational running books people could recommend? I'd prefer biography type books.

I've been told by friends to read 'Born to Run', any opinions on that?

Thanks,

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the support and the luck, I've got the C25K program but I think I'll add a week to the beginning with run 30 seconds walk 90, instead of running 60. I'm not sure I could run for 60 at the moment.

What should I say to my GP? Seems a bit silly to just see him to say I've going to be running???

Thanks,

Hi,

Thank you both for the encouragement. As for why I'm waiting until 2013 the half marathon I want to do is in April, there is no chance I could train for it in 2012, I get out of breath, and really bad back pain (above my legs) if I just walk for more than 1/2 a mile.

Hi,

I was wondering what people thought about whether I'm too fat to start running, I'm 23 years old, but I weigh 24 stone, and often get lower back pain even when walking 1/2 a mile. And my goal is to do the Shakespeare 1/2 marathon in 2013.

What do people think? Doable?

Cheers
