Less gear. One size fits all in most things except shoes. That way there will be less agonising and fewer "what shoes should I wear?" posts on forum threads. Manufacturers could then pass on the economies of scale and stop charging us around £100 and rising for a pair of fell shoes that are fairly cheap to manufacture. In Liptrot's Republic the only car would be a Nissan Micra and everyone gets one free. |

I have an entry to the Snowdonia Marathon. However, I have just entered the OMM as it's in the Howgills this year, one of my favourite places. Does anyone want to take my Snowdonia entry? You can have the pleasure of being me for the day for £20. |

Hi I'm not elite by any means, but I'm very dedicated and serious. I've done a lot of fell running but it was only in 2011 that I moved to ultra long distance. In 2011 I did the Wuthering Hike, the Brecon 40, the Bob Graham round and failed miserably at the Lakeland 100 - my only ever DNF. I have signed up for the L100 in 2012 to rectify the situation. I've made a few false starts at blogging. I am hoping to keep it up to date and useful, with my own idiosyncratic approach to ultra distanc running. I'm trying to capture my thoughts and experiences more comprehensively in my blog: Mark's blog Cheers, Mark |
